What is Siemens Teamcenter?

Teamcenter is an advanced PLM tool that is scalable to meet any business needs. The vast functionality that is included is split into 3 levels; Start, Extend and Transform. The Start level includes management of design data and documentation. The ability to manage BOM’s (Bill of Materials) and the introduction of processes. The Extend level builds upon the Start level and includes management of requirements, service lifecycle management, management of manufacturing data and the management of suppliers. The Transform level adds the management of quality data, the ability to manage product cost data, the management of sustainability and functionality for systems engineering.

Teamcenter Rapid Start’s multi-CAD data management for mechanical computer-aided design (MCAD) enable you to create, manage, visualise, validate and re-use native design data from a wide selection of MCAD systems, including NX and Solid Edge from Siemens PLM Software, as well as AutoCAD®, CATIA®, Inventor®, Creo® Parametric, and SolidWorks®. Using our JT 3D visualisation standard, you can collaborate on designs even if you don’t have access to the MCAD tool that authored them. By establishing a single, secure source of product data, regardless of MCAD authoring tool, you have access to the information you need to make better decisions across your organisation.

ECAD management in Start enables electronic computer - aided design (ECAD) teams to increase productivity by integrating disconnected design flows, managing all of your design, part library, fabrication and assembly data and enabling you to share data across multiple domains. Teamcenter Rapid Start supports ECAD integrations with design tools from Mentor, Cadence, Intercept and Altium. You can also use an integration gateway to integrate tools that you develop internally or procure from other third parties.

With Teamcenter, you can streamline product development by automating and synchronizing processes. Teamcenter Rapid Start includes preconfigured workflows based on industry best practices to manage change and control product release. You can even take part in review and approval processes directly from within Microsoft Office. Teamcenter Rapid Start also includes preconfigured groups and roles with appropriate access and permissions. Based on these roles, you can streamline your everyday tasks and processes.
