Printed Circuit Board Designer Recognised with IPC CID+ Qualification

Applications Engineer Bob Sadowski has this month successfully gained the advanced qualification of CID+ Trainer, meaning he is now able to deliver the coveted IPC CID+ PCB design qualification.

The IPC CID+ course provides existing PCB designers with the advanced principles of PCB design and manufacture and provides greater understanding of assembly processes. The course not only covers the fundamental aspects of PCB Design, such as component placement and track routing, but also provides a wider and more advanced understanding of PCB design principles, routing and board stack up’s.

CID and CID+ (the advanced qualification) are valuable technical education programmes that provide delegates with the foundations of electronic design decision-making and the practical application of IPC standards for the design and manufacture of PCB’s. Bob delivered his first CID+ training course under the watchful eye of an IPC (the global PCB design trade association) invigilator and passed with flying colours.

Bob said

“The IPC is the recognised body for PCB design and many businesses are now specifying that knowledge of IPC principals is essential for the successful completion of circuit boards. PCB designs completed by someone with CID and CID+ accreditation assures the competence and capability of the designer and ultimately that the end product is of the highest quality.”

Quadra Solutions Ltd house one of the largest Printed Circuit Board (PCB) design bureaus in the UK supporting local, national and international companies with a vast range of PCB design services and deliver the intensive CID and CID+ programmes.

Stephen Dobson, Managing Director at Quadra Solutions adds,

Over the past year we have trained and accredited a wide range of PCB design professionals in IPC qualifications. Bobs success at gaining the CID+ training qualification is not only an endorsement of the quality of the courses we are delivering but also further demonstrates the skill and experience of our staff at Quadra.”

The One and Only AutoCAD – AutoCAD 2019

From 22nd March 2018, AutoCAD 2019 subscription will now include access to the whole range of AutoCAD products as part of one, single AutoCAD offering. This new bundle of products (with specialised toolsets) will give you access to some of the best tools available and will give you access to tools you may not have experienced before.

From release 2019, customer on subscription with AutoCAD will get access to “AutoCAD including specialized toolsets” which include the following products:

  • Architecture
  • Mechanical
  • Electrical
  • Map 3D
  • MEP
  • Raster Design
  • Plant 3D

This is great news for anyone who has an existing Autodesk Architecture, Engineering & Construction or Product Design & Manufacturing Collection as the AutoCAD including specialized tools  will now be included.

So we thought within this blog we would take a look at some of the software you will be gaining access to.

What is included in AutoCAD 2019

AutoCAD Architecture

AutoCAD Architecture was Autodesk’s first look at CAD specific to the built environment. AutoCAD Architecture has since, for many people, been replaced by Revit however as a tool for basic construction modelling tool, many people still use it. It’s a quick and easy to use tool and you can create details and drawings efficiently and export to other team members for collaboration.

AutoCAD Mechanical

Over the years AutoCAD Mechanical has seen a number of visualization improvements that make working in it a little more comfortable for beginners and legacy users alike. It’s simple, intuitive, and can still be used by existing AutoCAD users.

It’s easy to manipulate in 2D and works well in creating drawings where you might want to highlight certain features or geometry without recreating the part or creating section views (in simple terms). A great program for doing floor plans & plant layouts, gaskets and some sheet metal flat patterns.

AutoCAD Electrical

AutoCAD Electrical 2018 design software helps electrical engineers and detailers drive control system design productivity. The software includes specialised electrical design functionality and toolsets geared towards electrical control system design requirements. A good tool but requires training. Our advice, talk to us before giving it a go.

AutoCAD Raster

AutoCAD Raster lets you easily incorporate raster images like .jpegs and .tif files into your drawing. The useful part of this software is that it lets you edit the images even if they are pixelated. You can even convert these pixels into AutoCAD entities for editing, using you normal AutoCAD commands and then when you need to present the edits in a PDF, you can change the AutoCAD entities back into the pixelated form so that they match the rest of the image.

AutoCAD Map 3D

AutoCAD Map 3D mapping software is a model-based infrastructure planning and management application that provides broad access to CAD and GIS data. With intelligent industry data models and tools, you can apply regional and discipline-specific standards. This help you improve data quality, support productivity and better manage infrastructure assets.

AutoCAD MEP

AutoCAD MEP is a design and construction documentation software created by Autodesk for mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) professionals; including engineers, designers, and drafters. The discipline-specific tools and features that are included in AutoCAD MEP are optimised to enhance workflow and accelerate the creation of MEP designs. AutoCAD MEP allows users to leverage their existing 2D drawings to build accurate 3D models. By taking advantage of AutoCAD MEP’s design, automation, documentation, and drawing management features, users are able to both enhance design accuracy and improve drafting productivity. AutoCAD MEP offers many other tools and features that can enhance productivity such as Universal Connector, 1-Click Fitting Replace, Content Builder, Industry Foundation Class (IFC), Transparency Integration, and much more.

AutoCAD Plant 3D

AutoCAD Plant 3D brings advanced 3D design to plant designers and engineers. Features like specification-driven design and standard parts catalogs help users place piping, equipment, and support structures more efficiently. Integrated AutoCAD P&ID functionality helps users to create and edit piping and instrumentation diagrams and reconcile underlying data with the 3D model. Quickly generate and share isometrics, orthographics and other documents whilst improving productivity, accuracy, and project coordination.
